I know this isn't the place but how do you find the Shell vs the S12 pro?
Shell is completely different. Thicc, warm, organic dynamic driver bass, lush crisp midrange with plenty of natural note weight and tonality, and crisp, airy, but controlled micro planar highs. The S12 has quicker, snappier but less thicc bass, leaner midrange with a higher degree of detail retrieval and separation, and treble that's got more extension and crispness, but also more planar sheen and occassionally strident. Planar timbre. The Shell got 3DD helping with a more natural timbre.
Happen to be listening to Pink Floyd's DSOTM with the following chain as I simultaneously catch up with my Head-Fi reading:

LG V40 (UAPP with parametric EQ) >> iBasso CB19 >> Anker power bank + RU6 (NOS) 4.4mm output >> ZVX Pro

I was just thinking exactly the same. ZVX Pro amazing with RU7 too. Cayin's dongles are beautifully organic and dynamic with all my KZs. Looking forward to the release of the RU9 👍🏻
Yep. Totally love this chain. Brings out the best of the ZVX Pro.

Ooh nice,

Im curious with the new bass BA

KZ all BA usually are at least "decent", but kz seems to be experimenting with treble tuning (and lower linear bass) recently, let's see hows this one would be.
I was wondering about the balanced version, but usually the bass is weaker for the BA, so it seems that probably the version that the amplified bass will be better.
On the other hand, I'm a little worried about the lack of treble, and if bass going to be even more effective and pronounced too much, it's going to be mudy. Although the question arises about the scale of the graph as presented (5-45 as KZ declaration, or it standard 20-20). IT'S standard 20 -20 graph of course.
As you said: we'll see.

old cayin DAP that i tried have that organic, lush, wet vocal sound.
if they maintain that tone, i guess its something that will have good synergy with detailed, wide, but lean and a bit dry ZVX Pro

i have old dac, Audioquest Dragonfly Red (DFR), it have rather warmer and a bit smoothed sound in comparison to colder and more analytical fiio BTR5.
in the beginning i like BTR5 more since its more detailed, cleaner and give better imaging thus better soundstage feel.

but as i want to sell my old dac, i tried it with lean iem/headphones and DFR have good synergy to some set that are a bit dry, lean, harsh leaning sound as it will make the iem/headphone a bit warmer, smoother and overall nicer to listen to.

I just got the Cayin Ru6, which is r2r, and the KZ ZVX Pro is like my new love. This combination is actually keeping an Archangel, an Apostle, and a Maris sidelined. Yeah, that Ru6 + ZVX Pro synergy sister combo is THAT GUD!!
Most of KZ iems sound better with warmer sources (Moonriver 2 TI).... ZVX Pro, Saga, ZS12 Pro X, Zenith, PR2 ...
Only one of my KZs likes neutral sources (DC07 Pro).... PRX
