I got some comparison shots done between HD20GA7 and X5L.

Thinduke, thanks. Nice to know that the pics are working now lol. The price is probably steep for most people (including me), but for those who are only interested in music for their DAPs, HD20GA7 is a keeper.

LFC_SL, HD20GA7 is almost pure white, and is much the same as iPods. Maybe slightly more concentrated in tone, but very similar. I have seen the black one in person (for about 5 minutes) and it's actually more dark navy blue than pure black. So it's lighter than, say, the black HD5 or the X5s.

Pluman, you should! Well, I'm actually really curious about how some Sony players sound - namely, the Vaio player and HD5. HD5 in particular seems to have a very good reputation.

MartinJ, MP3 up to 320kbps, WMA up to 192kbps, and WAV files. The upcoming HD30GA9 is the same, except WMA is now DRM-compatible, and the Kenwood Lossless codec is added.

I doubt Kenwood will support FLAC in the future (no FLAC support on HD30GA9, for example). WAV files sound terrific on Kenwood anyway: better WAV on HD20GA7 than FLAC on X5, I say.

I think HD30GA9 came out today (25th) in Japan. The website has been updated (www.kenwood.com/faq/hd30ga9/index.html) and a number of web shops have started to list the player.

The price of HD30GA9 was slated to be somewhere in the region of low or high 50,000 yen (approx. around 500 dollars or more), but while the price comparison site kakaku.com has the player at a whopping 64,800 yen;

www.yodobashi.com/enjoy/more/i/cat_1045_23197449_26000234_26000980/47358791.html <- this site lists HD30GA9 at a more modest 49,800 yen. I sincerely hope it's the latter.

The Kenwood HD20GA7 was a big mystery in the forum since they are pretty rare around here...
But this review definitely clears a lot of things up!

I was about to do the same kind of review on this player,
but unfortunately I have been scammed from the seller,
so there goes my funds

Nevertheless,
kudos to hwanmeister!
