KENNERTON VALI - Impressions, Discussion Thread

Mr. Kazanzhi even proposed to conduct similar bundled tour in Europe later on, I am glad that we are on the same page on the this arrangement.

That would be fantastic, cool to see some love to be had for Europe when it comes to tours! Personally I'd love to be able to audition your desktop stack, many countries in Europe have such narrow access to headphone gear.

Hey guys just checking in, got the tour units from Nmatheus a few days ago. I'll get to listen to them tomorrow (today) and have some kind of initial impression.

As a Nighthawk fanboy I'm very curious what you think of them.

As someone who wants to like the Nighthawk (you should really read about all the tech involved, they're cool as heck) but finds it to be just terrible, I'm also curious what you think.  :-D

Well it didn't disappoint in the looks dept, some of the most beautiful cups I've seen. The minimalist build and feel was very comfy and really played into my likes of senngrado builds.

Not sure if Audioquest did this on purpose being a cable specialist but the nicer cables made a substantial sound upgrade. It really brought the sound together but it still lacked fine details that top tier phones had. A little harsh comparing mid-fi to hi though. The thinner/lesser cable made the phones sound disconnected from frequency but also frequency/soundstage. The lows sounded super closed in and in your face while the mids and highs had soundstage. Really odd like the way the hd700 can sound disconnected in a wrong system but a warm&dark version.

So Oregonian dropped out for personal reasons, and after the Elear issues Stillhart is taking a break.

That being said I may ask if it is okay for me to get them for just one or two days and ship them back out. I want to compare them to my new pair with the revisions. If they are significantly different I would like to post them. I may even pay to send mine out to an interested tour member that shares full impressions and pay to get it back.

So did you want me to ship the touring Vali to you after my turn, or continue with the next person in the list, raybone0566?

Man. That sorta thing just makes me sad, people work hard to write up impressions best they can on equipment they love in order to help others (such as myself) that have no means of trying them out ourselves before buying and then this happens.

I hold Stillhart in the highest regard and was looking forward to his opinion of the Vali so that I could draw comparisons between yours and his. It's a shame if he doesn't get to hear it after all, for both himself and the rest of us who care for his reviews.

That said I look forward to your comparison between both revisions!

go ahead and send it to raybone0566. You are almost done with it I assume so it won't be there for the meet in Seattle. I haven't even gotten tracking or a shipping update for my pair.  I may just jump in later on or something.

Yea I think Kennerton takes their time, or maybe the Russian customs/post is at fault for it, but that's how it's been whenever I've ordered off of their site (bought pads on different occasions, their headphone stand and a power chord) - took like 2 weeks for the stuff to be processed and leave St. Petersburg each time and then another week or two for them to arrive. Not that this was a problem for me really and I assume they might expedite things when it comes to heftier purchases such as that of headphones but yea.

Maybe there's just a lack of courier flights to Portugal from Russia, no idea how they handle those things over there.
