I think we were meant to simply reply with a number one higher than the last responder so that we all had a unique number, God knows why folk have gone for numbers out of sequence? I don't suppose it matters much though, as if Wendy/KBEAR choose a number that has been taken by e.g. two people, then a simple coin toss could determine which of the two participants win?
It'd make it easier for Wendy to find the winning entrant if they're in order, but I think that horse has bolted! lol.
Not everyone "replied to this post" to the original post, instead just replying to the general thread, so hopefully that doesn't confuse during the count/draw.

Replying in sequence in a forum does require some mental discipline.
Perhaps, a good old method of replying and tagging your name, possibly with the word "lottery" or "draw" can work.
Then you will have all the responses that you can easily identify and number, and select the lucky winners
