Kaosun's Vintage CD Player Service Bulletin

Dear Kaosun,

Afterwards I apparently bought a defective second-hand Citizen CBM 2000, complete with box and manual. Power supply is broken, no power and testing the device with batteries gives a plastic smell.
And screen does not light up.

A user of a Dutch forum saw on the photos that the previous owner has attempted to repair it. because solder blob is visible.

What else can I do?
Get rid of it and buy a Sony Discman or should I give it another chance by taking it to a repair shop?

PS: in the manual is a stamp of a shop in Singapore. So someone brought it to the Netherlands.

Hello Kaosun,
Could I ask you for help? I repair Sony D-250 by cleaning middle wheel and finally is reading CDs. Everything is working OK, but discovered that Q409 (from schametics - on photo in red circle) gets very hot on touch. Its OK?
Many thx for info. Nice day. Daniel

Hello kaousun! Since you are familiar with several models I am interested, I would like to know your opinion. I currently own a D-99 to which I replaced the caps (well, most of it. For some others, I haven't found suitable replacements). I use it to listen to music with my headphones, and I really enjoy it's sound signature, specially with the Mega Bass on.
I am now considering getting another discman. I've looking for a D-90 or a Philips AZ6804. The Philips unit is a functional onev(50€). The D-90 are two units which are not working (the discman shuts off when trying to read the CDs.57€ for both units).
Assuming that I can repair the D90, which of the two PCDP would you recommend?
