I don't have an Android phone so I can't change the settings... that sucks...

I have a friend that has an android so maybe I can use his to change the settings. If I'm using 300ohm headphones, do I choose High Impedance in the app? Does that make the device output more power, or does it make the device have a higher impedance output? I'm confused about that part.
Do you have any Android-based DAPs? I changed my settings via the Fiio M11 Plus (I'm Apple based for phone and computer).

Fiio now has iOS app. Does it work for KA3? https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fiio-control/id1485988916

This also suggested in some instructions from btr5 or es100 app I do not remember well now. It was saying above 150ohm headphones choose high impedance or/and high gain. This is what it was suggested as a guidance.

HD600 is 300 ohm, so it is quite clear you should use high gain.

The hard part is what setting to use for HD660S, which is 150 ohm. So is that low gain or high gain?

Just kidding. I tried both. I cannot hear a difference. I keep it on low gain, because I mainly use KA3 with IEM which is lower impedance.

Doesn’t high gain usually just boost the signal, not add more power? High gain usually introduces distortion doesn’t it?

Nope. Do I choose High Impedance AND High Gain?
Dear friend,

Switching the gain to "high" increases the volume and power output and is suitable for high impedance or low sensitivity headphones; "low" gain is suitable for low impedance and high sensitivity earphones.
And due to individual preferences, you could read the professional reviews and comparisons, as well as try out by yourself.

Best regards

May I ask what the benefit of choosing the "high impedance" option?

Also, if regularly swap between IEMs and HD 6XX, should I just leave it on low impedance?
High impedance should be used for the HD6XX because the device will switch to higher voltage swing which is better.
Low impedance is better for low Z earphones because it will push more current.
So don't be lazy and choose the appropriate setting every time!

I think high gain and 6XX suits more some android phones because can draw more power?

I always use apple music which plays perfectly with my iPhone but I use KA3 only with my Samsung phones which I find better even with apple music because exactly the KA3 can draw more power.

So yeah maybe iphone is not the optimal solution for this especially if you need to save battery and all that.

I would love to, but I only have an iPhone.

So should I leave it in low impedance mode if I plan on using IEMs with it as well? Maybe I should just return the KA3.... I dunno.
Maybe you should exchange it with a KA5 which has the screen and local OS so you can make your adjustments without the need of the FiiO control application?
