[KA3/KA13] FIIO X JADEAUDIO USB DAC DONGLE
Dec 25, 2023 at 9:35 PM Post #766 of 902
@FiiO I'm having audio interference issues with the KA13.

The audio will start and stop, cut out entirely, cut out from just the right channel, etc.

This can be caused by any small movements, touching the device, or even waving my hand over the device.
Dear friend,

You can change the playback device (computer or mobile phone), USB cable, and headphones and try again to see if the problem persists.
We have also recently released the new firmware V0.15 of KA13. You can try again after updating: https://forum.fiio.com/note/showNoteContent.do?id=202309281720242213748&tid=17

Best regards

@FiiO I'm using the provided USB-C cable and have gotten the same issue with multiple headphones through both 3.5mm and balanced.

The source device is a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE but I've used other dongles and audio devices without any issue in the same time period.

Edit: I'm on the latest firmware as well

Not sure what happened to my KA13 but I plugged it in today and it won’t work. Tried everything.

Maybe it has something to do with iPhone update. Will try the new update.

Cant update, windows now doesn't recognize device and it did before. I am getting pretty disappointed with fiio devices lately.

Well not sure what happened but my KA13 worked fine one day and now it seems to be dead. All I did was plug it into my iPhone. Both windows 10 and 11 show it as unrecognized.

It’s very frustrating as I am paralyzed from the chest down and deal with a lot of nerve pain. screwing with updates all the time is a lot of work for me and very painful.

what did the windows device manager shows? if it is still detected as dfu, there's a chance that your KA13 might be stuck in the firmware flashing mode, and you can use the flashing utility to continue the process, happened to me once.

Why would it be stuck in this mode ? I wasn’t nor did I do a recent fw update. It’s been working fine since my last fw update.

I don't know either, I'm just making an educated guess, it could be some faulty wiring in the cable triggering the DFU mode signal, or possibly other causes. I'm just trying to narrowing it down so that I can help you.

No faulty wiring. Tried 4 different fiio cables. Can’t do the new fw update as windows won’t recognize the device anymore.

The coiled red one is actually a kind of „hack“; it is meant to connect microphones with 3.5mm TRS outputs to the 3.5mm TRRS inputs of smartphones (e.g.: „Ancable“, B088T1MRVQ… but there are many more in the 5 to 10 USD range). It might not be ideal in terms of coaxial signal integrity (coaxial impedances) but it works flawlessly with the mojo and Fiio coaxial outputs. The one on the left is the original one from one of my Fiio DAPs (or the Q5s… don’t remember) to connect the fiio devices to the coaxial cinch/RCA SPDIF input of DACs. The one on the right is an expensive and stiff version made for the fiio-mojo connection. Aliexpress also sells 4pol TRRS 3.5mm to RCA cables for less than 10 USD but I am not sure if the layout is correct (e.g.: Digital koaxial audio kabel 3,5mm stecker auf cinch-stecker spdif audio ausgang kabel https://a.aliexpress.com/_Ev8Z8uZ).
For those interested, I received the 4pol-to-RCA-cable from aliexpress in the meantime and can now confirm that that one also works with the SPDIF coaxial output of the Fiio KA13: i.e. the 3rd ring of the 3.5mm plug carries the digital signal and the 4th ring the ground/shield as usual for recent Fiio devices

Maybe the cable or cell phone connector is not in good contact. Please try to change the cable
