Sorry, One more comment: I think ben999imcs's original consideration of the Edition 9 (not the A900?) for classical may have merit. I've only read one or two positive reviews on it for this genre, but they were glowing. I have not heard this phone personally.
But for classical strings, its a tough call between the DX1000 and the D5000. In general I'd say the D5000 is better at reproducing the warm tonality and texture of strings, which is more important to me than soundstage. However, the DX1000 can make lesser quality CD's (of which there are so many of in the classical world) a bit more tolerable. A Markl modded D5000 is fabulous with classical music and more convincing IHMO than the HD650, which many headfiers consider the best for this genre.
