Just ordered AH-D2000 upgrading from MDR-XB500. How blown away will I be?

It depends on what you're looking for in music.  If you think the XB500s lack clarity then you'll definitely like the D2000.  If you think XB500 is the minimum amount of bass you want you might not like the D2000.

The d2k has a much more balanced signature. The bass is deep and has good extension and slam...but it's more polished and smooth. It's a great hp but not a true bass can IMO.

You lose a little bit of bass, but otherwise, they should be an absolute upgrade.

That's not to say they are anywhere near bass-light or bass-neutral. They have a serious kick to the low end, much more so than my Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro's.

I think you'll be pretty pleased!

Oh, and remember to post impressions after you get them!

Wonderful! I'll be sure to post a review after about a month of use, just to be sure.
