I guess sa3000 is stirring up alot of head-fiers. Until your acoustic review are those magnesium frame? Any fancy construction along in material like kevlar or fiber-weaving or titanium??? At least you can tease us with fit, finish, material and build quality. Usually I expect the best from Sony in this dept.

Is it just me or do those pads look like the toaster-oven type? definitely not the trim taut pads of the qualia. on the other hand, if it has the cushiness of the R10 but the sound of the Qualia...

Nice. How much are the street prices for SA1000 and 3000? Can you hook me up? Pretty please?

I'm kind of in a similar place. I've got Senn 650's, and was hoping to trade up to R10's or Qualias. My initial listen to the Qualia showed that they had amazing potential, but might be pretty "fussy" regarding amplification, there was a lack of bass, sizing issues, etc. One of the Qualia threads has addressed some of these issues (there is a 1/2" adjustment range for fit, the pair I heard was un-amplified and probably not fully burned in, etc.), so the Qualia is not out; but might the SA5000 be 80% of the Qualia at 25% of the cost?

I am currently between amps, and want to get a new one, but I need to know if there will be a new set of cans in the house and which one it will be first.

Please report on sound as they burn in; thanks.

Just thought I'd join this thread and say I'm really excited about hearing how these sound as well. I've checked and these mini qualias are already going for 50,000yen in a few Japanese mail order sites! Thats under $500 for probably 90% of the performance of a qualia 010. Please include common music when you test these heaphones as well sa5000 owners, I'd love to hear what they sound like with normal rock/metal cds as these could be a possible step up from rs-1s.

If its anything like the r-10-cd3000 relationship, it won't even be close.
