The SA5000 is a step up IMO. More accurate bass.. Better extension. Faster.. More transparent. Better clarity.. Slightly more detailed.. I personally love the DT880 bass.. Really sticks out in a good way.. Very authoritive. DT880 is smoother with sweeter treble IMO. Vocals are ok. I was never impressed with the 770/880/990 mid range, especially compared to the DT48's stellar mid range, and the excellent DT480 mid range, minus the unique colorization.
