Hi there,

Just getting into the headphone community. I just purchased the AKG K81 DJ and honestly, I don't feel like it was much of an improvement over my speakers or other pair of headphones. I can only see the benefits of this headphone are the prominent bass and the nice isolation it provides.

I am looking to get another pair open or closed (but closed preferably). I'm trying to find a pair of headphones and could really use some help. I am trying to find a nice set of cans that will allow me to immerse myself in the music. I listen to all types of music, willing to spend up to $200 US.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Source: ipod shuffle or foobar, no amp yet

Types of Music: Everything except for country. From Beethoven and Debussy to Nujabes and Bonobo to The Killers to Chinese Pop and Japanese to Metallica and Muse

Any other information that I can provide? Sorry I'm somewhat new.

What about the Sennheiser HD595? Amazon has them for $189.

Denon D2000s. Can get them for $200 used, don't need an amp to sound excellent (though they certainly improve with one).
