JOKES: You may be an audiophile if...

1. Getting into an arguement over the "proper settings" of a car radio (en route)
2. Leaving a concert early due to "bad sound"
3. Having decent gear, but not listening to it anymore because it doesn't sound "good enough".
4. That new amp you've been drooling over is a prelude to sex.
5. A new piece of gear, and suddenly you're a decent person to be around.
6. You need only refer to an audio product designer by first name (your friends instantly know who you're talking about).
7. You booby trap your rig so that no one else can listen to it.

I don't know what AKG stands for...my crude guesses are as follows:

A: Akoustik(s)?, Audio?
K: Kopfhörer?
G: Goerike? (founder)

Maybe just "Akustikgeraete" (~acoustic related gear)

"Akustische und Kino-Geraete Gesellschaft m.b.H." from wiki. Translates into something like acoustics and cinema (theater) equipment company, I believe. But now they just go by AKG, if wikipedia is to be trusted.

If you've over 2,300 posts on head-fi!

Really, I'd say if you have a seperate DAC. But purveyors of good sound, might just own a CMoy with some HD 515s.
Not everyone can afford RS-1s and a monster source.

Amen! I never liked bluegrass, nor do I now, but the sonics on Alison Krauss and Union Station live are amazing.

You might be an audiophile if...
You noticed Zach Braff's headphones dissapeared from around his neck in the studio scene at the end of "The Ex" because you were trying to figure out whether they were V6's or not.

If you have to be told what to listen for when trying out new gear?

you can only stand the sound of your wife's voice if there's a Clever Little Clock in the room.

You may be an audiophile if......

the first thing you think of when you hear "bride behind a veil" is someone wearing a pair of Sennheisers.

you have multiple headphones you can only justify having for various moods.

You might be an Audiophile if you have:

lots of little boxes, labeled with words like headphone adapters, spare knobs, headshells, tuning dots, preamp tubes, etc etc etc

lead shot, but no shotgun

sorbothane in any form

more cables than clothes

a room for only audio, and ONE chair

you know you're an audiophile when:
...the first thing you notice abt people is what earphones/headphones they use
...you can actually name the brand from above ^^
...you despise people who use iBuds
...one word: lossless
...one quote: sorry about your wallet
...you like to look at pictures of people's rigs
...you like to show off your rig
...head-fi is a website you are on, like, always
