John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) or Lars Ulrich (Metallica) is a better drummer? – Rate the better one.

At least he's got a solid advisor for his art collection, he was selling a Philip Guston in Some Kind of Monster.

If you watch the "Classic Albums" series on VH1, they feature the Black Album. Bob Rock says they spent months getting the drum sound. It's all production. Heffield also says they would spend hours perfecting the drum tracks in the early days.

Lars has certainly received alot of flack from the percussion community. But go ahead and play along with the early albums .... it is very intense. People also have no idea how progressive they really were, it was years ahead.

He was solid during the Ride the Lightning/Master of Puppets era. I can't call him a 'great' drummer when you have the likes of Lombardo and Menza around, but his drumming was impressive. Since then, it has gotten worse and worse. I think you'll struggle to find a drumming worse than that of St Anger.

What I did briefly hear, also in the movie, sounds like he cranked up his snare. He plays one lick in the movie that is flawless.

I'd like to hear the new stuff, with the bass player.

John Bonham by far has to be in top 5 in my book, along with greats such as Keith Moon, Neil Peart, Ginger Baker, Carl Palmer.

Wow, totally agree with you!

Lars Ulrich? Really? Rick Allen (Def Leppard) is a better drummer than Lars. As for John Bonham, he is a very accomplished musician. I'm just wondering how you would pick these two to compare.

In fact, name me a drummer from a not-completely obscure thrash metal band that's worse than Lars. You're going to struggle to do that cause almost all thrash bands have a awesome drummer.
