JH Audio Lola Impressions and Discussions

When looking the graph, the gap between the peaks and deeps are not much different, until it gets to 7k+, with that boost. So it will rather be a balanced signature from low to high mids. That deep will most likely bring the vocal forward in the mix as some of the singers can sing around 4-6kz.

Let me know your thoughts.
That was definitely something that came up with the treble at 7k+ possibly with harmonics.

Another consideration was the bass being more balanced, causing the dip to not be as evident in comparison to Layla

@riverground here's your chance to chime in with any additional thoughs

The harmonics definitely helped it in that regard as well.
And as for the bass being more sub-bass focused taking away the mid-bass bias the Layla had most likely gave more isolation for the upper-midrange to shine through.

Yeah, clearly the focus is on 5k onwards. it's like everything sit on a single line on the stage and those frequencies sits a few steps forward in the mix. a bit of sub-low to avoid mixing with low-mids.

Unit variance is a thing, even though not as bad as some other brands. I've owned multiple pairs of Rox/Lola/Layla and auditioned many more. They all sound different here and there, but the general trend is consistent.
- Roxanne is the darkest. Has a forward lower-mids that many dislike, although I find it enjoyable.
- Lola is the brightest. When the treble is eq'ed down, Lola is probably my favorite JH. The treble really gets into the way of that beautiful DD midrange.
- Layla is somewhere in the middle, which is not necessarily a good thing if you know what you want. Lower-mids is still thick compared to other brands.
- The performance series resolves better than FMJ series and the original carbon fiber series. Like a tier better. Haven't tried the aion series though.

In January I received my pair of custom Lolas. I've been enjoying them with the Hugo2. It is a wonderful combination!

yes, JH Audio ships an aluminum case with the Lolas. It is quite high quality. With the case, I enjoy being able to toss the CIEMs into my backpack without worrying about them getting damaged.

One of the best cases for IEMs.

Btw, as you're around... Would Ifi pro line-up work well with JH IEMs? What about Diablo?

iDSD Diablo would require a separate iEMatch for sensitive CIEMs/IEMs, but something like Pro iDSD could work.

Going to the Lolas from my other upper mid boosted iems takes a little getting use to. I really enjoy the balanced presentation.

Between the 7k peak and the balanced tuning it more or less negates the upper mid recession.

Introducing Jolene! Two 9.2 dynamics in a Dome configuration for sub bass. Two 4.9 dynamics in a Dome configuration like Lola for mids. Four BA array for highs and a four BA array for super highs.

I wonder how Jolene will sound, I have no experience with jh audio iems rather then a 5min listen to a set from @riverground and the 1 time I think it was a layla ion at a canjam.

Do they get any ear fatigue from sound pressure? I see there is no apex modules here.

How would lola or jolene sound vs a fourte?
Less treble? More natural sound?
