I wanted to put-in my two cents on this not so well known custom iem:  the JH-5.

I've owned a few IEMs (Westone UMX3, Shure SE530, and Etymotics 4p/s) but none came close to the overall balance I'm getting with these 'low-end' JH-5s.

The westones had muffled highs that drove me insane (although I liked the mids), the Shures had forgettable sound and the Etys had no bass whatsoever.  The JH-5s, so far for me, give the best balance of bass and clear highs coupled with super comfort (custom molds).  I'm not sure how much better the higher end JHs will give me although I do intend to upgrade the stock cables.

I paid $399 plus shipping (the molds were free b/c I ordered through the audiologist - kudos to Frances Miranda of Santa Monica, CA; she's awesome! see rockstarears.com).

The feeling of having IEMs fit directly into your ear is amazing and a welcome relief from sticking rubber flanges and foam tips into my ear canals - often somewhat uncomfortable.

The delivery was two weeks.

I can't imaging spending any more for a universal IEM.
