The song or the album? I always felt the best song on the album wasn't aqualung.

My God (no pun intended)...are they still touring? I saw them 3 times but not since the '70s.

The song is good but the album is even better. Ah I must go and listen to it now...

Awesome album! I always wish that little bit of distortion wasn't in "Locomotive Breath". Make sure you get "Thick as a Brick" too. And also "Songs from the Wood". And "Minstrel in the Gallery". After that there are only another 34 or so albums to collect.

"Thick as a brick" is a *must have*; Second in line IMO would be "The Passion Play" - both are concept albums, stylisticaly very similar, both made in the best tradition of the 70's prog. rock. Aqualung is also a great album, but different - more rock than prog.

I'll second redshifter's recommendation to see Tull in concert. Although I haven't been to a Tull concert since '80 and '82, they are said to still put on a great show. I don't doubt that.

If you can't make it to a concert there is a DVD out called "Living in the Past" that is live concert and performance material.

EDIT: Make that "Living With The Past"

Dougli - With all due respect, the first album by Jethro Tull was titled This Was. Stand Up was their second album, and is a great album.

You're absolutely right. That's what happens when I trust my recollection of ancient events.

Great to see people talking Jethro Tull; one of the most Creative and Original Bands of all time.

I've been listening to some of the recently re-issued Remasters:

A Passion Play
Minstrel In The Gallery
Heavy Horses
Songs From The Wood
War Child
