I am experiencing some problems with my new setup, which is a O2+ODAC Combo running from a Windows desktop to a pair of Ultrasone Pro2900s. I have the amp/Dac plugged directly into a wall socket with the Australian power adaptor and USB cable supplied by JDS Labs. The USB cable runs into a USB 3.0 port on the rear of the desktop.
My issue is that the sound is very one dimensional and unexceptional, even connecting the headphones directly into my phone produces much better results.
Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips?

Does your phone have any EQ settings thus biasing the listening experience?
 
Can you try a USB 2.0 port?
 
What player are you using in both cases ( i.e Foobar2000, etc ) ?
 
What phone did you test the headphones with?

Well who knew, changing it from a USB 3.0 to 2.0 did the trick, I wonder why that is.

Because some dacs do not support the USB 3.0 very compatibly. I read some of comments have the same problem as you in the thread of ODAC.
