N6ii released last year it has 8.1 and fast UI its not even the flagship model. My point is with so many DAP in the market right now am just expecting more from M15.

The point is though that having 8.1 doesn't make them better, the M15 at the price is a stellar performer.

Android version doesn't matter that much for me. Having continued software support is more important.

I have a stainless steel m11 pro and I have been in FiiO's firmware beta group for about 3 months. It's great to communicate with the engineer directly and see progress. So far I've seen improved usb out feature, sample rate indication in the top banner and global MQA support for arbitrary apps (probably coming soon).

Make sure you update the firmware and enjoy the latest features.

look from page 89 and good reading .... same thing on 3 new devices and several other member have the same problem with their crap screen
Dear user,

Actually the percentage of problems with the display is not that high. Our quality engineers have done a lot of experiments to address the problems with the display. They also strengthen the screening for the display material, in order to avoid the products with display problem going to the market.

We have one-year warranty and if you meet any problem, please feel free to contact us.

Please accept our sincere apology for all the inconvenience bringing to you.

Best regards

One suggestion to Fiio about the Fiio Music app specifically is that Fiio should allow the app to read tag information of specific tracks/albums such as the "Year" and "Comments", that would improve the UI even further on a already great app.
Dear user,

Thanks for the feedback. We will report to the engineer for assessing about that.

Best regards

They changed my DAP 3 times and they all had the same problem, I think, although your quality department had a little problem. You asked me to update the device an update that was useless and you then swept me to your distributor. Not really a good experience

Its not about being fanatic or something, if there's a new flagship product with premium price tag advertised as android music player it better be has good android experiences. Others brands has newer version of android with their new products and some of them has lower price tag. Good sound is a subjective matter and there's a lot of choices in DAP market right now to choose.

Sorry bud, wasn't implying that you were fanatical, just stating that I was at that time.
The M11 is very smooth in operation. You're absolutely right that good sound is subjective, totally agree. That said, it would be a shame to discount these players purely because of their OS version. If you ever get a chance to demo and maybe even compare against, as you correctly state, the many other DAPs available, you should give them a try.

Having continued software support is more important.

I feel like this is one of the areas where Fiio do really well. The X5iii got updates/revisions for AGES and in many ways improved over the time I was using it. With the switch to the Fiio music app, X5iii users continue to benefit from updates, even if not to the system now (or not for a little while, at least).

Side note, because this seems like a reasonable place to put it:
I recently upgraded my 5.1 speakers and amp. I wanted to test everything out for music playback and wanted to use the M11 as source (source is usually my HTPC, which I don't trust as much for a pure music signal). How ridiculously handy it was, to be able to have the M11 plugged into my amp and then sit on the sofa and remotely control it from my phone via the Fiio music app!!!! A very specific use-case scenario I suppose, but it's easy to believe that other people might be in the position of using their DAP as their main music source, and this was just such a convenient way to do it!! Bluetooth control but cabled audio! Perfect!

*edited to change "one area where Fiio do well" to "one of the areas" - implication in the first version was that there were areas where they don't do well, which for my personal needs is not the case.
