How do these sound compared to the Cleer Arc? I kinda liked those but one earpiece started malfunctioning. It did have bass and didn’t sound nasal or FM-like at all. Quite diffuse sound though, pretty light on detail.
I get the same openness to the environment with earbuds (Fiio’s own FF3 in my case for now) or my open-back Grado headphones, and properly great sound quality. But for wireless use when walking my dog I can use nothing but open-ear designs so I’m still interested.

Hello. I received these today in the UK (excellent service from the official store).

I cannot work out the buttons. They seem completely unresponsive, and I cannot turn them off when they are out of the case?

Also, I cannot work out how to repair with a previous device. I had to turn off Bluetooth on a device to connect to another.

Dear friend,

1. The earbuds and indicator will be powered off automatically if there is no connection for more than five minutes.You can long touch the touch button for 5s to power on the earbuds.
2. How to connect to a new device when JW1 keeps connecting to the old device automatically after powering on:
Turn on the Bluetooth switch of the old device and clear the Bluetooth pairing of JW1. At this time JW1 will be disconnected from the old device. And you could pair the new device with JW1 now.

The JW1 is quite an affordable TWS that has good price to performance ratio. Open backed design provides good soundstaging, and this TWS has good battery and BT connectivity.

They are very good for everyday use when you need to be in contact with the environment but they will only fit smallish ears.

Spoiler: My Take:

To me, JW1 is interesting in two aspects. Firstly, the sonic performance is mostly competent, given the design challenge that there is absolutely no seal. In fact, the soundstage performance was so compelling that I can’t help but hoping that FiiO would revisit this concept with better drivers and tuning to target the “audiophile” customers.

The second interesting aspect is the price. I’m surprised by how low FiiO can price a pair of fully functional TWS

Pros:

• Comfort
• Soundstage
• Price

Cons:

• Unbalanced tonality with some tracks
• Bass should be stronger for gym uses

Who are these IEMs for?

• Runners and cyclists
• Office workers
• Curious audio geeks
