I've had enough low end cans.

Oh, ear cups were much smaller than D2000. They were more like on ear rather than around the ear. Plus, my ears got very hot very fast. However, there are so many other people who thinks they are very comfortable as I have said before. I couldn't stand K701's headband either so maybe I am just a bit picky.

The problem with headphones is that under around $300 (including headphones and amp), Koss/PX100 are actually the most neutral headphones you can buy. Under a certain price, other headphones can do great soundstage, or great bass or great midrange, etc, etc, but none of them can do it all. You have to spend at least $300 (in my experience) to get a true upgrade from Koss/PX100.

hmm...amazon is selling the hd600s for under 300...soo....??? But then...yes...you'd need an amp.

I hope you'll enjoy your 780s as much as I enjoy mines. Let us know your impressions.

Congrats!

They were just delivered. Can't wait till these are all burned in but for out of the box I'm already quite pleased. I was up until 3am last night recording with the sr60 and today I was mastering with the hd485. Just continuing to work with these and the song sounds better than it did with the headphones I was recording and mastering with. That's gotta be somethin special.
