Hello folks!

After a few threads in the headphone, amp and DIY section on this forum, I’ve finally received and completed my new portable setup.

A few days ago I got my Go-Vibe V5 "low gain version" with AD 8620/8610 op-amps installed from Norm in Canada.
Norm was a very pleasant guy to deal with and all went out just fine - Thank you Norm!
And finally I got my Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro/80Ohm from Thomann.de.
It took me five days to get them, but it seems to be worth the wait.
To go with this, and make the whole thing work, I made myself a interconnect with an Ipod connector from Ridax, some pretty good copper speaker wire and a standard 3,5mm plug.

I let the pictures speak for them self’s...

The package:

The Phones:

The Go-Vibe V5 amp:

My home made interconnect. To be honest I'm pretty proud of myself:

Ipod and Go-vibe connected:

The complete setup:

Now I'm just going to let the phones burn in over to night so that I can start using them on my way to school tomorrow.

Peace...

Is that a huge ball of aluminum foil?

Is that a rubber string to keep everything together? Proabably need something same for my setup. Everything looks nice, and soon sound nice too. I'm a bit jealous because my amp and line out have still not arrived :)

Thank you for the opinions.

It's not aluminum, it's a ball of glass made to put a candle in

Yes, rubber string is the best solution that I've come up to yet.
But I'm still searching for a more portable and durable solution - any ideas?

Nice work on the cable! What kind of TRS connector is that? I like gold connector bodies but they always have that knurled texture (like a metal file) that chews things up and scratches things up

govibe + DT770, good choice IMHO. better definition, and refinement compared to the PA2V2.

I still have a govibe II that I use portably all the time.

Nice setup...you must walk around or listen to stuff a lot when gone from the computer to have such a large setup.

I listen to an ipod and some Shure E2Cs when I'm away from the computer, which while sound kinda bad, get the job done, kinda, until I can get home haha. I really think some new IEMs are kind a must for me.

Why is that baked potato listening to your headphone?

(He-he - how come you guessed on a baked potato? Are you hungry?

Thank you very much for all the nice words about my cable.
I took a while to make since the speaker cable was about four times big as the pins in the connector. But I don't think it was super hard to make, so I will probably do myself a new one with some thinner silver cable instead (if that will bring out more clarity to the Beyers).

kramer5150:
I bought the 3,5mm plug at an electric component store for about $5US.
I didn’t really think about the texture of the connector body when I bought it, but maybe you’re right in what you say. Must suck to have a connector that scratch your system up while on the move.

Now I have got to sleep. Have to go to school in seven hours.
God night...

I must say that the headphones sound remarkable good. They fit me super!
The only flaw, if there is any, is that you look like an idiot with them on

Do you guys think that I will get a more clean sound if I make myself a new interconnect using silver conductors?
