It's summer and my ears and head are getting too hot in my Sennheiser HD650s!

However, I am very satisfied with the sound with them. Can someone recommend full size open phones that are lighter, have a less vice-like grip, will not heat my ears and head as much and sound close to or as good as the HD650s for use during the summer? As always, your help is appreciated.

yup had that problem with Sennheisers, Grados are far more cooler to wear. Or buy speakers.

Thanks for the idea, I never thought of speakers. I had a pair of Grados, but I found the ear foam used is way too uncomfortable on my ears.

Move to Tasmania or the South Island of NZ - you will welcome any warmth those phones give your ears !

My love for AKG sound notwithstanding, I've found that the K601/K701/2 to be the coolest (in terms of ventilation, at the very least) headphones I've worn. The earpads are relatively stiff so they don't feel like they're squishing against your head, and your ears feel like they have a lot of space to breathe.

I second that but the sound of the K701 is opposite of the HD650.

You guys should try living in India. In Delhi I've used my SR225s with a 44 degrees celcius. Mumbai with 85% humidity and 41 degrees. Beat that.

I actually bought an aircon for my hall and 20% of the reason was my love for headphones!
