There's quite a bit of evidence that massage therapy helps increase growth (etc.) of premature babies. A lot of the research comes from Tiffany Field's lab. I forget where she's attached. The experimental evidence looks pretty good from a methodological perspective. I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself...but perhaps, ask the doctors?

I should qualify: I'm no medical doctor. It's just that we covered Field's work in grad school, among other medical or quasi-medical interventions that seem dubious prima facie. Of course, some did turn out to be dubious after all. The so-called "Mozart effect" of presenting music prenatally, for example.
