I feel perfectly content selling mine on here for $300 shipped. I got to enjoy them for about a year, then passed them on to another head-fi elite, all the while making a little profit for myself. Done and done.

BTW: The HF-1 does not sound like a $500 can, not even close.

not a 500$ can? I thought the HF-1's were the alpha and omega of grados

I imagine there's a following of grado owners that will tear you apart for such a statement

I'm not sure I agree with you there. The HF-1 doesn't have the build quality associated with a $5-700 can, nor does it have the looks of a can of that eschelon however, I would say it's one of the better cans I've heard. I still switch off every other month with my Headphile CD3K and the HF-1 never dissapoints me in terms of sound.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like that. It was an impulse reply.

I wonder what makes people spend that much money on them. Do they know exactly what they're getting usually or do they just see that it's one of 500?

I guess they might get even more expensive later so it's not really a bad purchase at all if you think about it. Use until you get tired of them then sell for a profit.

User ID Bid Amount Date of bid

calibur_horn( 0 ) US $510.00 Sep-17-06 18:44:28 PDT

querida13( 41) US $500.00 Sep-17-06 18:38:57 PDT

calibur_horn( 0 ) US $500.00 Sep-17-06 18:41:58 PDT

calibur_horn( 0 ) US $405.50 Sep-16-06 01:56:28 PDT

querida13( 41) US $400.00 Sep-17-06 18:38:15 PDT

That was the bid history of a recent HF-1 ebay auction. It looks like calibur was probably a shill bid. He shoulda been happy with the 500, and not try to push that poor buyer. It would have been a successful shill push otherwise tho, since querida previously bid 400 and calibur pushed it up 100 bucks before topping querida out. Shill bids like that are why sellers are willing to eat ebay fees for auctions that their shill wins - and also why i only post up my max bid in a snipe, and not to linger there for shill bidders to feed on incrementally.

Interesting- They didn’t actually sell for that much.

They were just listed in the For Sale Forum for $400 if briefly. The odd thing was the Seller stated he bought them off of this forum for $400 and wanted to sell them for the $400 but they had just registered today 09-19-06- So how did they communicate with anyone here to buy them?

I post this as a heads up since something odd is going on here:
The Sellers contact information- bradenpurcell at hushmail dot com as listed in the eBay auction and then here in the For Sale section just a little bit ago.
