Is this a realistic ask?

Seems expensive for used phones. I mean I think those Sony's and AT's brand new are close to the price he's asking.

Those are amazing phones. But they are used, I don't that price is justified.

I think like 1500 for the L3000 Used.

About same for the Sony's. Probably 3K total.

But that's just me from looking at prices of headphones, I don't own anything that comes any where close to that.

Personally I'd buy those JVC wood phones over both of them if I had to buy new ones. Unless those clearly without any doubts have 100% better sound. Cause their prices is almost 4X the price of the JVC ones.

Umm Ruckus, $1500 for the L3000 is already insanely low, even for used. But for the R10? If they were that price, they would be selling like hotcakes.

Realistically, the L3000 sells for $2300-$2500 used. New would be way higher. The R10 typically sells for $4500+ used. A brand new one topped $6k on e-bay recently, and there was one on audiogon for a similarly high price, said to be used but absolutely mint condition. Not sure if it's still for sale or not.

Also, Ruckus, making claims that you would buy the DX1000 over an L3000 or R10 round these parts will get you some funny looks

I have heard a DX1000 and an L3000, and I preferred the L3000. Never heard the R10 but many say it is the absolute king of dynamics.

Neither of those are in production anymore and are both highly rare and highly regarded. I think this combo has been seen before recently, but it probably didn't sell because while these are two of the best money can buy, the price is a bit high.

The price of both headphones has gone up considerably since they were released. That said, the BIN price is high, but very intriguing.

I think you people aren't realising that the seller is asking £5,000 and not $5,000. That's just over $10,000 US.

That's pretty crazy.

No, I'm pretty sure everybody noticed that. If he was asking $5000 USD, that would have sold within seconds of being listed.

Indeed. Given that the asking price of an R10 is over 4k, that would be a steal.

For two used pairs, I do not think so, I have seen used R-10 go for around 3000.00 lately, and the L3000 maybe less, buying both together will even maybe lower the price, so IMO $5000.00 is not a bad price, but it is not a bargain neither...

5000.00 sterling pounds will never sell them, that is for sure, also those are the same 2006 pics we saw a couple of weeks ago in another auction, and most likely an scam, I would not touch that auction not even with a ten foot pole...

Sovkiller, where has the R10 been going for $3000 lately? I must have been under a rock. I know the price of the L3000, at least on head-fi is currently about $2300-$2500.

yeah, I was wondering too. Heard recently eBay sold a pair of R10 for about 5500. Maybe you can bump into a pair around 3000 in Japan but would be in fairly bad condition.

x2; I would be extremely interested in where you saw an R10 going for $3000.

You sure it wasn't a previous listing by the same user?
