Michael Percy audio has vampire wire. If I remember correctly its $2 a foot, so slightly more expensive than wireco.

Vampire told me they were out of 22 gauge and that it may be out of production completely. Using larger than 22 gauge wire for anything but speaker/power cable is not a great idea. For example, Lawton Audio's page said that 22g Jena sounds much better than 18g Jena for Sennheiser cables - none of that woolly, messy sound you get with over gauged wire.

For my business I mostly use 24g Neotech UPOCC. It's well priced and sounds terrific. You can get the PVC variety which is thicker and less pliable, but has a substantial, durable feel to it, or with teflon. Soniccraft and Takefive both have it. I have done a bunch of Sennheiser cables with it and people have liked them.

Vampire hasn't had any of their CCC wire in stock for quite a while, they have the OFC with PVC, but none of the CCC with PVC. I used to offer all the Vampire bulk wire for sale, but haven't been able to get it in quite some time.

I think the cost of copper drove them out of the raw wire business. Too bad, it was a nice, inexpensive, wire.

Peace,

Lee

Is the neotech a solid core wire ? I tried a teflon neotech 22 AWG sometime for internal wiring of my DIY sonicap. Very nice sounding wire but it was really rigid.

It's stiff, it doesn't bend much. I quad braid it. The teflon variety is 3x as expensive but is maybe more pliable, i have some coming for my K702 cable offering.

The stiffness is not a big deal though. Once the braid is in place it has natural bending ability. I sleeve it with multifilament so there's no rubbery jacket or crunchy techflex. It's just as flexible as my now-gone Blue Dragon cable.

here's a cable done with it

and another.

I've sold plenty of these and the flexibility hasn't been an issue. It also sounds really, really good. Much different than anything I've heard before although I have a Mundorf Silver/Gold wire cable I am working on that is coming soon. That one is getting stainless reflex over gold mylar.

ive been in contact with vampire wire for some time now.. and they have informed me that CCC-22 is in stock @ 2.01$ retail..... in either clear or red...

now its just deciding between

NEOTECH UP-OCC 22 awg... or VAMPIRE CCC-22 awg....

anyone have any suggestions to how to narrow it down between the two...

i think ... that neotech is just a little bit cheaper... but not by much and guessing whatever ill need X4 is gonna be a tad bit pricey for a diy cable project so just trying to get as much info as possible..
