Is there a set of headphones with the same sound for less?

Jun 1, 2007 at 10:54 PM Post #31 of 50
Ok i just went and got the ksc75 and my god that is some good sound.

Plenty of base and about oh i dont know 6x what my earbuds had.

If any one else looks at this thread and wonders if they are worth $20 my god yes they are worth it.

well,

"more" for less??

I think you have 2 chances

- PX100 (headband and somehow positively soft/smooth sound. great HP)

- KSC75 (a lot said already..

Glad you're happy, man! Spread the word: Bose sucks, Koss (and Senn, lol) rules!

Every one I know is going to hear about these for weeks. My friend has a pair of 50 or so dollar sony buds and I am going to get him to listen to these. I think he may like these better.

Glad you bought the KSC75s. They are really great for their price. If you're interested in modding, there are so many mods that can be done. Do you have the version with the volume control or the one without? Usually the one without has better sound quality, but that's subjectable. Have fun with your new purchase, for it will lead you to a life of bankruptcy

He said: "I do a lot of moding and electronics work so I am sure I could do the mods just fine. Any chance you have a link to some of them?", so I recommended modding. Practicality is an issue but he is open to modding.

Sorry about that, Meloncoly ... and here I am priding myself on reading all the posts in a thread before posting, and I miss the one where he says he's open to mods. I just figured since he was a headphone newbie, he wouldn't want to go through all that, and I know it's easy to get overwhelmed when you're new here. But you're right, and I'm sorry if I came off as being rude.

I have the ones with the inline volume and like I said plenty good enough for my needs. I am glad I didn't go with some thing higher priced and I probably could not have told the difference in them.

I just experimented and stuck them in some -22db ear muffs used for shooting and overall the no ambient noise between tracks is a little spooky but you lose they base by closing them in which sucks :/

Yea, they're open air headphones, so they kinda need the backs opened to get the bass booming.

Cheap phones that isolate, Sennheiser HD201s, though they do not sound as nice and have that signature cheap closed back head phone sound (the sound ratting against the plastic)

Yes I figured that it would muffle the base some but I had to give it a try. This really makes me want to get an amp for the Image dynamic IDQ10 and see what it sounds like. Supposed to be made for precision as apposed to most which are just to move air and make noise.

Well now don't you just HAVE to try the PX100? It seems like most of us here think you'll like it much better than the Koss. In fact, I think you may like the MS-1 even more (praises for the MS-1's price/performance ratio around here is only surpassed by the Koss). So why not give that a shot as well?

Welcome to head-fi. Sorry 'bout your wallet.

MM....do you guys really think the PX100 is worth ANY multiple over the KSCs?? If they don't sound twice or thrice as good, why pay the money?

I don't believe $20 is anything to be sorry about.

I feel like head-fiers are *afraid* of the KSCs because it threatens their community and hobby. If everybody had KSCs...no one would want more. . .and they would certainly be pacified. Maybe this is the way to end wars and bring about utopia!??! Hah...maybe I *am* a fanboy-ee.

ANYWAY...get the $5 Durabrand radio from Walmart and use the headband from those junky 'phones!!! I like the ear clips, personally...they're the most comfortable design and they seem to seat the driver exactly where they belong. My girlfriend, OTOH, doesn't have earlobes, so they fall off her ears, and she prefers the headband. That's the easy mod. . . I'll be recabling once I order the parts, etc.

Also, if any of you other head-fiers want these for listening, modding, gifts, etc... cheapest place you can buy 'em is here for $15:

Have a nice day!
