I recently tried on a pair of bose over the ear head phones and boy I am sorry I did because those sounded much better than any of the cheap head phones I have had.

The bose are out of my price range so I am curious if there are any head phones that are cheaper but have about the same sound?

I most liked the base response with the bose set. Here is a link the the bose one's I am talking about

KSC75. Better sound, 20 bucks. 'Nuff said.

If you liked bass, go for the K81DJs(~$60) or the Koss Portapros (~$40). There are many mods availiable for each headphone that makes it even better, and they are fairly simple to do, assuming you have experience in cutting, hammering, and soldering...which isn't too hard.

Thanks. I have never had audiophile ears so I am not as picky as some and will mostly be using them for games and some times music as well.

I do a lot of moding and electronics work so I am sure I could do the mods just fine. Any chance you have a link to some of them?

Oh and I am looking for some thing over the ear rather than on ear

Did I see game and music ?

Get yourself a DT770 pro 80. You can get a second hand set for about the same price or less, and you'd know why we hang around here.

I figured bose were no ware near top of the line. I know I wont use them a whole lot as when I can use my surround sound set up in the computer room I will but there are times when others want to watch tv in the living room or are sleeping and I want to have my games turned up.

So I figure no more than at most $50 for them. I almost want to get the ksc75's and a cheap pair of shooting ear muffs and stick them in there to make them over ear but I am still a bit skeptical because they are $16 bucks. If they really out do bose then bose has some big problems.

So over the ear, less than $50, and with some thing close or better than bose over ear sound?

wow after reading more reviews it seems that every one but the most demanding seem to like the ksc75's.

I think I may just go searching for a pair today unless some one knows of a pair of over ear that are not much more and sound about the same.

Any one know any normal retail stores that carry the ksc75's?

There is a headband mod for the KSC-75's. You'll find it using the search function. If you live in the states, its just a quick trip down to Walmart for a $5 Durabrand radio. It's rubbish, but better if you don't like the ear clips.

Lucky me there is a ratshack about 5 minutes from my house. They are $20 there but by the time a payed shipping at amazon I would have spent more.

I think I may go pick these up as every thinks very highly of them.

See this is exactly what I was hoping for when I came here. Find out how much bose over charges and get the equivalent or better headphones for way cheaper.

I cant even imagine the sound quality that could be had for the same price as what bose want.

If you liked the warmth of the Triports you might prefer the Sennheiser PX100 to the KSC75. It's a couple of bucks more expensive but its more comfortable and is closer to the Bose sound you seem to like.
