Is there a better "memory foam" mattress than Tempur-Pedic?

Funny you should mention that, because before making a $1600 investment, I had the cuhones to ask the woman on the phone about that.

Uhhh, I don't know what you had man, but I hope the Spanish is closer to cojones, otherwise stay away from me, you might be contagious....

I wonder if there is any material that I can put onto my college mattress and still feel the same way as a tempur pedic.

effect. Don't these foam-type mattresses totally kill that?

OMG sex is great on memory foam! Pretty soon I'm going to try it with a partner and see if that's even better.

As Hi-Flinten has mentioned, get a topper that fits the mattress. You will have to get oversized fitted sheets though. You will then have some insulation from a dorm mattress. That can only be a good thing.

Has anyone used any of the Ikea mattresses? My rent is going to be higher than I had wished so I don't have as much left for a bed, mattress, etc.
(Moving into first apartment in four days...)

I laid on a tempurpedic bed for a few minutes at a local bed store, I must say that it was easily the most comfortable thing I have ever laid on.

While I'll agree that trying them in a store was always favorable, for me and others I know there is an adjustment period. The first few nights I was wondering if I'd made a mistake. My shoulders (I sleep on my sides) were a bit sore when I awoke, and it just was hard to get used to. It steadily got better, and after about three weeks I slept through the night without rolling over, and I knew I'd never want to go back to a conventional mattress.

Cuhones is the way that it is spelled in a far off, hardly known region, in a tiny little corner of Kazakhstan. I figured if I used that version, the language filter wouldn't **** me out.

Now, I see why your shoulders hurt the first couple of days.

Seriously though, they tell you when you buy it, that like with a lot of new things, there is a learning curve that the body has to go through.

Just like hot pants (it's been 30 years, shouldn't the cycle bring them back by now?)

My parents own 3 of the tempur pedic pillows and a full sized tempur pedic mattress. It definitely beats the crap out of every spring mattress I've slept on EXCEPT my own. I'm not sure where I bought my mattress, although I remember purchasing it 7 years ago when I was a kid. Whenever I'm not at home, my mom will always try to steal my bed because of how comfortable it is...

I was reading this thread and remembered how good I thought their pillows were at Brookstone. I just went and ordered a comfortpillow

Not to threadjack, but are the pillows really worth $100! I could use a new pillow or 2, but I have a hard time justifying that price.

For me they are, I have been through four accidents that were severe enough to total the cars I was in and I find that they keep the stiffness and soreness away. It literally feels better for me to sleep on concrete with one of their pillows than to sleep on a normal bed with a normal pillow. OTOH, my wife doesn't find hers worthwhile and it actually gives her neck problems so she doesn't use it.

Uhhh, I hope that wasn't where you were experiencing your joys of manhood...
