Is there a better "memory foam" mattress than Tempur-Pedic?

I had the twin size pillow., but as an added bonus, when I bought the mattress, they threw in a quenn sized one. Needed new pillow cases.
Whe I am going to away for more tha 3 days I bring my pillow. You just shove it in your suitcase, and no matter how mangled it is when you open the luggage, it bouces back to in it's original form.

For those of you who say it's lost it's pizzaz, then it's time for a new one.

And don't go by the sample they send you, it is a thin pice that tears, but the real schlameal doesn't tear.

How do you find the memory foam for rolling over. We recently went shopping for a new mattress and after lying in the same spot on the memory foam I had created an impression and then really struggled to roll over. Is this common.

Incidentally, we ended up buying a latex mattress. I have slept better in the past few weeks than I did for the past 10 years.

I think i might consider buying one for my mom. She suffers from neck and back pain because she sits there and makes jewelry all day everyday (works for a company that supplies jewelries to major stores)... She has a "japanese import" bed and its utter crap. It feels like a plywood board and it was quite pricey too.

i tried a latex; it was horrid for me

I really believe that we need a mattress-fi thread.

It's such an important (and expensive) necessity, yet there's not many resources online for finding or purchasing mattresses.

I once had a pillow made out of barley grain (or something...) and it made a crunchy noise every time I moved, and sometimes little seeds would poke through the fabric and poke my face. It was supposed to be the "best pillow ever" and cost me $45. It eventually broke and leaked grain all over my bed.

Yep this is normal with these mattresses. Supposed to keep you 'sunk-in' so you don't toss & turn in your sleep.

If you're a side sleeper you might not be fully comfortable with a memory foam.

I'm a side sleeper. With the memory pillow and bed, I do not have any pain in my back or neck as I did with an expensive quilt padded mattress. I now find that when I wake, I am usually on my back. I also had the habit of putting my arm under the pillow. Now I don't have the pain in my shoulder/arm as the pillow will keep it's fluff until I'm asleep. When it flattens, I flip it over to the fluffy side.

To keep the memory from breaking down, rotate the mattress once a week. We have been using ours for about 5 years and it still sleeps well.

What does this mean? What sensitivity should I feel?

My wife and I realised recently that we disturb each other when we get in and out of bed during the night. As a result we needed something other than an innerspring mattress. I am a side sleeper and many reviews warned against memory foam for side sleepers. This along with my nly experience with memory foam (difficult to roll over) mean that we either went with plain old foam or latex.

My wife and I are very happy with our new bed. The old one was 24 years old!!

I would support a bed-fi. Next to audio, bed is my favourite thing.

I always slept on my side when I was sleeping on the tempur-pedic mattress. It felt much better than any other mattress I had ever used, because it wasn't bending my back out of shape.

i found the latex to be way too stiff, wouldn't adjust to my curvature
wink.gif
i have big shoulder blades that stick out in back and it wasn't comfy; latex felt like sleeping on a trampoline to me, but i know folks that dig them
