So, as the title says, is the DAC (Xitel MD-Port DG2 -----USB Optical Fibre Sound Blaster) that comes with the Zero DAC any good?

Compared to what?

For what it does (USB to Optical S/PDIF), I'm sure it's fine; but if you can get S/PDIF in another way, that's likely better.

Yes, for what it does, because my laptop doesn't have optical out. If a DAC converts from USB to optical, digital to digital, then would there there a loss in info and therefore loss in SQ?

USB is digital, Optical S/PDIF is digital, no DAC involved - DAC implies Digital to Analog. There should be no loss in "info", but considering optical isn't as good as coax I would simply recommend using something that outputs coax S/PDIF.
