No, the onboard memory of your processor / PC will be fine, these options just tell the program what to use. Quote:

what is the accurate-rip plugin? the website doesn't explain it that well at all...

Other people who have ripped the same CD have submitted 'maps' of their rips. The software compares your new map to the online posts and looks for changes. Quote:

I don't think that matters too much. The drive is used to read the data by the program. The program is what fixes any errors. Quote:

What exactly does one have to do, after installing the program, to get error-free rips? Edit: Wow, setting up EAC is even more complicated than I though...

I just spent some time setting it up as well, I found these two guides especially helpful:
Exact Audio Copy Guide

I do not use EAC as J.River's implementation of secure rip rivals EAC.

I do always use Secure Rip
1- I have never had a bad rip using this setup
2- I am not in a hurry so the time factor is not critical to me
3- Peace-of-mind is.

Can you use EAC to rip to Apple Lossless?

I seem to recall EAC had the ability to use an external encoder, which pretty much opens the door for anything

edit: With a program other than EAC you can also resort to a 2-step process if you had to. Rip to wav then encode with seperate software.
