Is it time for a new Harmon Curve survey?

Everyone seems to want someone else to dictate their target response curve. They don’t want to invest time into determining their own personal curve for themselves.
That's because "audiophiles" are mostly neurotic, obsessive people who have been convinced that there's a "purity" or "truth" to chase after and thus need authoritative instructions as to not break the audiophile rules.

If I had an account that listed this off and then posted in "Sound Science", I'd feel extremely embarrassed.

Maybe instead of buying a $2000 USB cable (lmaoooooooooooooo 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣) you could buy a pair of DCA E3s, which are better headphones than HD800S in almost every measurable way. I guarantee only one makes a measurable and audible difference.

Can someone explain to me why all the passionate hate for the Harman Curve? It's just a suggested response curve that they admit isn't for everyone. The people frothing at the mouth over it seem to think that there is a "one and true" response curve and it isn't Harman. But by definition it's one size does not fit all.

I don't see why it's worth arguing over. Most people prefer Harman. That doesn't mean that you do too.

As I've written elsewhere Harman is a handy tool for starting my PEQ settings, however I never end up at those settings. Others have mentioned the same areas of disconnect with the suggested Harman curve for various cases that I have. Seems like a self selecting sub group.

Based on your replies, I don't think you understand the purpose of the Harman curve.

Some people think accuracy IS a preference, that is the sort of subset I am talking about.

I don't think you understand what the Harman curve is used for either.

The $3500 ones sound better. They wouldn't charge more if it didn't sound better. Time to upgrade!

Nope just plenty of inflation due to tarriffs and war. Don’t worry you got a guy wishing lots more inflation for America.

I don’t think you can be totally sure about that. You need to buy the more expensive one just to be sure you have the best. More money means better and more accurate sound. Hurry up and order it before they’re all gone!
