Is it normal that I pull out JH3A headphones and realize one of the shells split open?

So I have had the JH3A for almost 2 years now. I mostly connect the 3.5 mm adapter straight to my phone because it is more portable. I use them mostly for studying because they block out a lot of noise. I thought they were a little more studier until I saw cracks on one side of my headphone (left side). I have not dropped them or anything. I took them out of my pocket one day and almost had a heart attack because I saw them split into two. Has anyone else had these problems or know what to do? The internals are fine, sound comes out etc. I just don't think supergluing will be a viable solution. Thanks.

Were they in the Otterbox?

This is why I'm paranoid about keeping mine in the OtterBox or some sort of protection. The irregular shape of the earpieces doesn't look like it takes well to stress.

Looks like you'll have to send them in..
