is it necessary to have a external DAC for the Chaintech AV710?

I guess the title says it all.

I am ripping my CD collection to lossless and wondering if I require an external DAC (and the possibility of skipping the built-in wolfson DAC. If this is possible, how can I bypass the Wolfson?). Or maybe the Wolfson DAC are good enough?

thank you

Possible - yes; do you want to - questionable.

Your question implies you don't know what a DAC is. A DAC is a Digital to Analog Converter. If you don't want to use the onboard Wolfson DAC, simply use a digital output to an external DAC. Now I would say that the Wolfon DAC is quite good, you might just want to replace the output coupling caps with something nicer. Take a look at the one I have for sale, possibilities are endless.

I know what a DAC is. The question is about the quality of the wolfson DAC and if it is necessary to have an external DAC if the Wolfson is not good enough
