All I'm saying is if the amp has good CMRR and enough gain there is little benefit to using the balanced ouputs, unless your headphone cable is 300 ft long.

By the going rate that would be what, like a 10K$ cable?

are the balanced ic normally much more expensive than normal rca?

They often are, though there's really no reason for it as they often use the same cable.

I think they're more expensive than RCAs because there is less demand for it.
BUT xlr ICs are often cheaper when it comes to second hand due to same reason as the above.
