I like Cirrus Ligic dacs better. Because i like hard styles of music and Cirrus does a good job better.
iTouch5G + even -+E11 sounds better than HSA Studio just 3.5+3.5.
Without Amp iTouch5 is still one of the best players up to 300$.

I had an E11 and thought it was trade offs in the wrong direction even with the high output impedance touch3g. A bit dark and robbed some fine detail on good wav files. Studio anv3 is still better than my touch3 or 4. Haven't heard a 5.

Really a matter of taste but I listen to every conceivable Apple iPod and the ones with the Wolfson dac sounds so much better, even more as an imod. I find the Cirrus logic dac too clinical for my taste.

But those early wolfson units (if not modded) really roll off the bass with most IEMs. Used devices are a bit hit and miss regardless. If you get a chance, check the line out of a Touch3g. It's not warmed but it's very close to right.

Will do. I have to say there is only one exception and to a certain degree. Of all the cirrus logic dacs, I like the sound of the latest iPod touch.

As far as hit and miss, I have had more hits than misses but truly prefer the imod as it seems to extend the range, clearer and widen the soundstage. I am going in a different direction, away from iPods and more towards audiophile daps. Will see where that leads.

I got the new Touch and it's really surprised me - it sounds great as-is out of the headphone out.  I just tested it against my Touch 4G with a very nice qusp LOD, a Pico Slim amp, and my MG6PROs and they sounded nearly identical - if anything the new Touch has just a bit more clarity and detail.  This is as good as I need for day-to-day out-and-about listening.  I think all my real portable amps etc. just got retired...
