iPod Classic - still worthwhile?

@reptile
I personally find my D2 to be better much better than my Ipod Video (30gb) in terms of sound. I'm not sure how different the one I have is to a 5th Gen classic though.

Assuming you are using the headphone out, I believe the answer is "yes". I have compared my D2 (now a D2+) to my old 5.5G iPod and there was a significant difference, at least to my ears. I've read that the Classic line is not any better than the 5.5's, and could actually sound inferior via the headphone out.

I have the iPoc classic 160 Gig 6th gen and like it quite a bit. I use a LOD to connect it to my portable amp. Having 160 gigs of space when all I use is losseless is invaluable.

Responding to the OP:

I think many have found that a lot of storage space isn't necessary or that compact size is more important. If my 30gb 5.5 broke, I would definitely be trying out a nano and other flash players .

In terms of capacity? How about output power?

I am still using the classic

It is cheap and have huge storage space for lossless files, so i do not see why it is not worthwhile

The classic doesn't have the curb appeal of the touch but it holds more. That's an argument in itself.
