Introduction to the Compass DAC and Headphone amplifier

Hey gadenp,

From what I understood..there was a test version (18 of them) which came out of months before , then an updated version (30 of them) with old face plates which started shipping only this month. All the impressions that you see are of this 30. The final version with updated face plates and few other mods listed in the Audio-gd website has not started shipping yet (just like Curra said). Most probably it will start shipping only by April 1st week. I have placed my order and Ms. Cherry said early April. I guess thats when you also should expect it.

Dear All,
Thanks for the clarifications. And for the efforts and time put into helping me with this issue.

Since the misunderstanding is on my part, I would like to apologise for it

No problem. We hope you'll hang around and join in with your impressions when your Compass arrives. If you have any suggestions for the FAQ, they'd be welcomed too.

Which brings up another point, which is that Compass can be used as a preamp as well. One of the reviewers focused heavily on this function and was quite impressed with it.

Full disclosure: I haven't heard the compass yet, but as I just ordered mine a few minutes ago, I'm convinced that this is quality gear.

I would be very interested in a matching poweramp for the Compass- I don't see anything on the Audio-gd site about this though, and Kingwa seems to post information on his "in-development" products with fair regularity (am I missing something, or is this not yet posted on Kingwa's site?)

Currawong
Want to ask, the settings for the new version Compass:
1. loud
2. neutral
3. soft - 1
4. soft - 2

Does it correspond with the old settings of:
1. neutral
2. soft - 1
3. soft - 2
4. soft - 3

gadenp:

Bright, neutral, soft 1, soft 2. I think they correspond though.

If I see someone make a comparison, I'll link to the review here.
