Introducing the HIFIMAN Custom Designed HIMALAYA R2R DAC

We are very excited to announce our latest achievement: the HIMALAYA DAC! This is born from our independent research and development.

HIMALAYA is a discrete R2R DAC module that is based on the FPGA algorithm. The combination of its low audio frequency range, out-of-band noise, and low energy consumption making it a perfect match for high-performance audio equipment. The HIMALAYA DAC module supports the standard PCM music signal transmitted by the most common IIS (Integrated Interface of Sound) audio interface, with a maximum resolution of 24Bit.

What can you expect from the HIMALAYA DAC?

The Bluemini R2R Bluetooth Dongle is an update of the original Bluemini that enhances detail and overall performance through the HIMALAYA DAC which features an R2R architecture. A chip composed of an array of resistors with a new algorithm reducing power usage between the chip and peripheral components. As a result, signal-to-noise ratio, total harmonic distortion, and energy consumption are at their most efficient and cost-effective.

Currently compatible with HIFIMAN’s DEVA Pro and R10D headphones – with additional models to be introduced in Q4 ‘21 -- the Bluemini R2R combines true hi-res. audio, out-of-band noise, and low energy consumption to create a high-performance match for in-ear monitors at any price point. The internal HIMALAYA DAC module supports the common PCM signal transmitted by the most common IIS (Integrated Interface of Sound) audio interface, with a maximum 24Bit resolution.

The Bluemini R2R features a battery life of up to eight hours. Its amplifier output of each channel is more than 200mw balanced.
In addition to its wireless attributes, an adaptor cable allows the Bluemini R2R to drive headphones with 3.5mm TRSS (Tip/Ring/Ring/Sleeve) or 4.4mm balanced plugs.

In my case the maximum sample rate available in Windows 10 is 16bit/48kz... do I need to install some drivers on the PC to get to the sample rate of 24bit/192kz? Or are 24bit/192kz only theoretical and not achievable as stated in this review? Thank you.

Bluemini can theoretically achieve and receive 24-bit/96kHz through LDAC.

By default, windows doesn't support any bt hd codecs like LDAC.

You can try installing alternative bt driver to get LDAC support on your windows PC to stream hd bt to your Bluemini. https://www.bluetoothgoodies.com/a2dp/

Otherwise, most android daps and phones support LDAC by default.

When this (24bit PCM via USB in Windows/Mac) functionality are you planning to enable? Others R2R Hifiman DAC got the same limitations via USB interface? (as reviewers do not mention this)

The comments about low bit rate is about USB DAC interface and issue with Himalaya DAC in bluemini. It is NOT about Bluetooth as to what you are referring to. Windows supports natively more than 24bit/96khz through USB audio. But not with this DAC.

So we are waiting patiently for the answer regarding Himalaya USB DAC implementation from @TeamHiFiMAN

The Hymalaya Chip (DAC) is designed to be able to support the sampling rate up to 384kHz. But Bluemini is mainly focusing on its Bluetooth function, whereas USB is a secondary function. So the sampling rate of Bluemini's USB rate is limited to 24bit/48kHz.

Thank you for the answer @TeamHiFiMAN. It is very good Bluetooth DAC (but it asks for for e.g equalizer - to be better ), but it could be 'easly recommended to buy product' if you slighlty improve your implementation of QCC 5125 (as it is capabe of the improvement in USB connection and other related functions).
