Introducing PSVANE Brand New Horizon Series Vacuum Tubes--CV181-AT

I bought these on Amazon a few weeks ago. They are sold in two-packs and both of the tubes I received were just incredibly microphonic - like to the point where if I touched the table my pre-amp was on I would hear a big *thud* from the speakers. I am returning both of these tubes and I would not recommend them to anyone. I was using them in my Schiit Lyr+ btw. Just seriously defective product, but at least they were bought through Amazon so no problem with returns.
Sorry you got bad tubes. I wouldn't write them off though from one experience. I have tried a few tubes in the new Horizon line and have not had a defective one yet. I have the 2a3 in my Stratus, and 6sl7 and el34 in my Aegis. All quiet, non-microphonic, and overall quite nice sounding. I still prefer NOS tubes in general, but I wanted to try these to see how they'd compare. I'm happy to know when the NOS supplies eventually run out there's something new production that's still acceptable to fall back on.

Do you have any info about the new balloon-bottled 6SN7 ART from PSVANE? I believe they are said to be even better than the CV181 TII.

Andrew
Hi Andrew,

Yes, the new model is an upgrade based on our T2, maintaining the same sound signature with improved durability. I’ll gather more information on the new ART series and send it to you as soon as possible.

That’s great. I now have one winging its way to me. Will compare with my CV181 TII in a Lyr+.

Received the PSVANE ART 6SN7 valve for my Lyr+ that I am using as a pre-amp. Couldn’t listen to it this weekend, but now am.

First impressions without burn in are that it is a significant step up from the CV181 TII. It still retains the tonal character of the TII, while improving things holographically, with more refined treble detail, air, presence, and instrument separation.

Well done PSVANE.

The valve looks cool too. Love the colour scheme too.

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying the TIII! I also really love the color scheme of the TIII series—it’s definitely unique. Looking forward to hearing more about your experience with it!
