Good to see you in the GT2 camp, fair to say it was inevitable?!

I’ve been hovering over both M1 and MV1 for a while - which do you prefer? Leaning a bit more towards M1 as I think I’d like another closed back.

Ha yep. I was flirting with DX340 but my heart will always be with Lotoo No regrets there. Such a great DAP.

Both M1 and MV1 are really outstanding headphones. Amazing value for money for performance. All I can say about the M1 is that I've effectively sold off all my other closed back portables after hearing them. M1 is tuned super well, outstanding comfort and a fantastic all rounder. MV1 is tuned a bit warmer, more mid bass bloom but handles most genres well. One of the few dynamic driver open backs to pack a punch on the bass - good for EDM!

Ah, so that explains the departure of your WP900! The M1 sounds more along the lines of what I'm looking for at the moment - I might take the plunge in the coming days!

WP900 is a fantastic headphone and I do miss it You're def not going to get the slam from M1 that you'll find in WP900, but as an all rounder, M1 is a more balanced offering (plus, I never actually used WP900 in a portable context...!). Let me know your thoughts if you get a pair. Sounds fantastic with GT2, of course, as does everything.

Lotoo have yet another chance to showcase their DSP code mastery, bringing AKM's AK4191-AK4499EXEQ DAC ecosystem in the Paw Gold Touch (LPGT) 2 music player to new heights.

After taking the original Paw Gold Touch as far as they could with constant Digital Signal Processing evolution, Lotoo acknowledge the strides digital audio has made in the six years since, bringing its flagship up to 2024 standards.

Knowing what AKM's own AK4191 delta-sigma modulator is capable of, and Lotoo's own track record of proprietary software upgrades down the years, LPGT2 is good to go for a decade on its own on the digital front. It's backed up by a 4.4mm output capable of producing 1,000mW balanced power per channel.
The generation of pristine I2S is the ultimate goal for LPGT2's DSP. But even the best digital trickery in the world needs a hardware platform sufficiently capable to execute software. Enter Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM)’s resurgent flagship DACs.

These Japanese giants, back on their feet with a clean slate, started afresh expanding the basic footprint of a single DAC chip IC into three separate parts – to similarly multiply capabilities by a factor of three.

AKM’s AK4191EQ is the brains of the operation, receiving pristine I2S clocking and data from LPGT2's Blackfin. Aboard, AK4191EQ’s delta-sigma modulator takes advantage of its expanded, dedicated, silicone footprint to lay claim to the title of the first chip IC working at seven bits.

These seven single-bit modulators flow on into LPGT2's dual AK4499EXEQ DACs, one for each channel and built with a single purpose in mind: to turn the interpolated, noise-shaped, digital data it receives into the most precise analog waveform possible afforded by its large footprint.

Native playback is also supported: By disabling the XRC function, you can choose to play audio at its original sample rate without any upsampling. All filters can be disabled as well.

Also, would anyone please mind uploading a picture, or several, with the GT2 in your pocket? I wanted to know if it's pocketable enough for my use case.

Thanks. Good to know it's only a software issue. I've told Lotoo and hopefully they'll FW fix it soon.

I was just puzzling over this issue of fixed output from the 3.5mm LO, regardless of software settings. I'm relieved it's not just me failing to work the device properly. Head-Fi remains the best source of useful information, as usual.

I'm really enjoying the GT2 so far - thanks again, @Nostoi.

Lovely player, very well built and it's as @Quadfather says sounds better after a few hundred hours, but it runs hot and sometimes I get a temp warning message occasionally and play is paused when in my bag - I've had to cut vents in the side. The PK6 and Touch only ever get warm. Also the battery life isn't brilliant. Still glad I got one though, Lotoo makes premium gear.
