Interesting little DAC (optical/coax input)

The only way you can do that is if the new DAC chip has the same pin out for vital signals unless you are into doing some signal re-routing..etc.  Such a job is not advised for peopel new to electronics as the pins are very close together for soldering taks.

I'm gonna have to run through the gamut of my headphones, but I think I got it setup the way I like. =)

As of right now I have a setup with a lot of synergy with MDR-V6 and ATH-AD700. =)

I received mine today with 12V power supply including the european plug adapter, I'm surprised with the building quality of this little DAC, my only complaint would be the buttons feel a little cheap.

Also ordered this. I will tell more when I get the S.M.S.L SD-793

How much difference does power supply make? I'll use universal laptop "charger" which has adjustable voltage 15V-24V and rated at 4.5A below 22A.

I've rolled many opamps and so:

The SD-1955 is always thin sounding, the sound very distant(whatever USB, filtered USB or coax) and lacking resolution...those things are cheap for a reason.

These are going for even less now - I got mine for $65.50 delivered to the UK. (£40) No power supply, but I seem to have herds of 12V PSUs that aren't in use around my house, so that's no problem.

I used to have Audigy 2 > Shanling PH-100 > cans, but now have this DAC running from the SPDIF on my motherboard. One thing I'll say is that bass has become somewhat more present!

Are there any op amps that might tame the mad bass this thing produces? Before I used the DAC my D2000s sounded bassy, but now my HD 650s sound like my D2000s used to, and the D2000s have levelled up stupid amounts! Perhaps I should EQ, it'd be easier.

Hi all,

Can anybody help me?

I will buy an SMSL-SD 793, and I,ll built it in to my DIY tube amp. http://gilmore2.chem.northwestern.edu/projects/showfile.php?file=cmoy5_prj.htm

Do you have any experience on that? Will it be good? My HK amplifier have a good 24/192 DAC, so I just want it to build for fun, and because tube amps, souns and looks good. I'll use that with an AKG K242 HD.

Thank you!
