I'm they same type. I look towards upgrading my cables constantly but I don't like to buy and sell that much so I want that one neutral cable that I can carry over. Not the best way perhaps but I'm also not much of a tweaker.
Radrd. I agree upgrading your source is probably the first thing you should do but it also depends on what your current cable is. You need a good enough cable that differences would tend towards the subtle. I tend towards getting cables mainly cause whenever I want toupgrade a component I want that big upgrade. And that big upgrade of cable seems to cost less than that big upgrade of a component so upgrading the cable will give me a satisfying enough sound for me to wait till I have enough money to really upgrade my source or something. Perhaps I believe in cables too much. But it's all in the head and the head influences your perceived happiness.
