I would say the Qables dock-mini cable is one of the best in the market. They offer a lot of choices... from the entry level to pure gold "GoldCap" which is the ultimate. All are built with remarkable workmanship. Highly recommended.

(Dumb question but...) Will you actually have audible differences between the 3.5mm to Dock Connector Audio Cable vs. the dual RCA's to Dock Connector Audio Cable?

No, there will be no audible difference, even with a cheap cable.

I would go with the CompUSA cables.

I ended up getting a couple of the Cables to Go iPod line out cables from NCIX. I'll probably end up shortening one of them, cause they are much too long. Now I just need to wait for my amp to get here so I can try everything out.

I was just about to ask the same question..

I probably have arround $35 tops to spend. Ive been looking on ebay and I came up with these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/3-5mm-Interconne...QQcmdZViewItem

I'm a newbie, and I dont know what's the diff between a 3.5 - 3.5 interconnect and an ipod line out - 3.5 mm cable?

A 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable could connect from your iPod headphone out to your amp input, which probably isn't what you want.

You have two basic options for line out. You could get an iPod dock to 3.5mm plug cable, which can connect directly to your amp. Or you could get an iPod dock connector with a built in line out 3.5mm jack, and you would need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to connect the line out jack to your amp.

To fit my case, the dock connector cannot be any larger than the stock ipod connector. Is there any place I can find a line out dock with integrated 3.5mm plug for ~$20-30US? Or is the only option to try and make one myself? Thanks in advance,

also, what makes these things expensive? ive seen some for as much as $100+...is it the quality?

It is what people are willing to pay. There is some labor involved from the small companies.

When you put the word cryo or silver in front of it the price just skyrockets.

I agree. I haven't ever tried to compare cables, but I doubt I'd be able to hear any difference between them, unless one was really poorly made. Even if I would be able to hear a slight difference, I doubt I would be willing to pay the premium for what is probably a minimal increase in quality.

I thought about that as well, but being a noob, I have to be critical (and careful of my wallet).

although the expensive ones really look nice (ALO)

but I just think its ridiculous to pay $80 upwards for one 1. That's a pair of decent cans right there 2. Resell value won't be as good
