For those folks who are old school King Crimson fans, Fripp & company have just re-released the first album, In the Court of the Crimson King. I know, I know, this is like the 32nd re-release. But what makes this one stand out is the fact that it is the first edition mastered from the recently found (2003) original master tapes. I'm very familiar with this album (bought my first copy on vinyl in the early '70's) and the sound is truly astonishing. All of the instruments are now seperate and clear, soundstage is excellent (to my ears) and it just sounds bloody good. If you like that band, get a copy of this release.

seriously, in the court of the crimson king is the absolute #1 on my "remaster wish list". but "recently found"? no no, robert fripp must have pre-planned this coup sometime in the 70s...

i swore that the mini-LP 30th anniversary editions would be the last king crimson remasters i would buy (on redbook at least). but if this one really sounds that much better...
