So..I have been in NYC for a months now; didn't go anywhere since I don't know where things are. Sitting here bored out of my skull.

Any one wants to have a drink and talk headfi?

If not, any place fun to go by yourself? (I have already done Audiocube and Sound by Singers)

if you have cash you can have fun anywhere.
since I don't, I'm taking a walk to Chinatown to get a banh mi sandwich for dinner and look for a cheap fanny pack. then walk home, take out the bike and have dinner at hudson river park with a book and a cigar afterwards. (maybe sneak in a beer, no alcohol in city parks)
get home in time for the NBA playoffs. cheap and easy.
I used to got out alone a lot and in nyc you'll see lots of people out alone.
I know sometimes it may not feel like it but it depends on where you go.

It's like a date, only casual!

Maybe just dress up as Spider-Man and run all over the town? I'm sure that'll be a thrill, and make some people's day.

Go to some record stores around the NYU area and browse. Generation Records and Bleecker St. Records are both great.

How old are you? You should have stopped by the Big Apple BBQ at Madison Square Park.

If you want boring, try living here in Oklahoma City!

Easy:

1) married (wife is not in NYC with me); see profile for age
2) friends are either all busy or not in NYC
3) don't care for bars
4) can't find anyone to go to a symphony concert with
5) already been to most audio stores
6) already did the 2 musems I know of
7) don't like to shop in stores (considering the rather high sales tax)
8) already visited several private art gallaries in the lower east (I think) - it's not that exciting since I am not buying.

you need more?

I didn't know you are married, that changes things.
I don't care for bars too, now that drinks are over $5. even dive bars.
though I was in a dart league and went to bars all over the city.
one thing about the city, people go "out" for the sake of going "out".
if one doesn't go out, you're like a weirdo.
I'm guessing you already joined a gym.

does company-provided gym count? I am in NYC for only 1.5 months total, with 2 weeks left to go.

IMO the city is waaaay over-rated. Except for the periodic classical concerts and art exhibitions, there really isn't anything left to do.

your company has a gym? I didn't know some NYC cos had those?
thought it was just google. but Gym counts, it's something many city workers go to.
you're preaching to the choir here. If I win the lottery I would get a pilot's license and move to Alaska. and vacation in Hawaii. that's if I played the lottery.
sometimes there's some really cool stuff ex. Lang Lang played for free last summer. The ladies love him, I know my nephew's piano teacher sure does.
