Hi Guys,

Can you suggest good In-ear monitors that goes well with Fiio X1?

Can you also tell whether apple earphone works just fine with FiiO X1? Will I get better sound quality with HiFiMan RE-400?

Thank you.

I'm new to DAP. Beyakusenn suggested HiFiMan RE-400 on a different thread. Please give me a few more options.

thank you. i will take a look at them. i like the look of "Yamaha EPH-M100BL" and "Shure SE215-K".

can you also tell me whether there will be a big difference between hearing music on "FiiO X1 + apple earpods" and "FiiO X1 + RE-400" ???

thank you

I read a little bit about them and shortlisted some.

How do you compare the following:

HiFiMan RE-400 - $59
RHA MA750 - $119.95
Yamaha EPH-100SL - $82.95
Shure SE215-K - $89

Or which one would you buy & why? (for FiiO X1)

thank you

Well it depends. If you are going to load the Fiio X1 with low quality music files and try to compare the 2 earphones, there won't be much difference. But as you move up in quality of the music files, the difference becomes more apparent. 256Kbps MP3, 320 Kbps MP3s, 256 AACs and 16/44 FLACs are some good format to store your music. These files have very good quality at the same time the size of the file will be quite small.

But if I have to answer your question in one word, then YES.

I am not sure if my answer to that question would help you in any way as the taste in sound and music differs from person to person.

I have not heard the RE-400 and the EPH-100. I have owned a SE-215 and have extensively tried my friend's MA750. I think I will choose the SE-215 again because

1. I prefer over-the-ear-cable design
2. MA750 is definitely an overall better sounding IEM, but it does not have the SE-215's sub-bass punch. I am not a bass head but I just love SE-215's sub-bass. That doesn't mean MA-750 does not have enough bass. It has enough bass that some might even call it a bassy IEM but it's bass just did not cut for me. The mids and treble were better on the MA750.

Between MA750 and SE215, I would rate MA750 a 8.5/10, and I would give SE215 a 7.5-8/10

Ma750 is better then the shure 215 by clarity and overall clearer and it's pretty airy. I didn't really liked the ma750. The eph 100 is just boring sounds pretty dark. Re 400 is pretty warm and neutral. My favorite iem is the dunu dn1000 and was the first iem to wow me. If i were you I would get the gr07 bass edition. I have the vsd3s that sounds almost the same as the gr07 and I love it to if you can't get the dunu dn 1000

You can look at the list of review here I believe all the headphones mentioned here are in this review http://theheadphonelist.com/headphone-list/

I was thinking about buying the RE-400 until I read a number of reviews on Amazon claiming it has poor build quality, and that their RE400 broke. Many said it sounds excellent though.
I hope Hifiman comes out with a sturdier version of it.

Some seem to love the SE215, while others hate it, claiming it has too much bass, and it is too hard to put on.

Instead of the SE215, the Mee M6 pro is also an over the ear design, but at around half the price. The M6 pro is said to have more neural sound than the Se215.
The M6 pro comes with two cables, one with mic and remote, and one without them. I haven't heard either, however based on the reviews I read, the M6 pro
seems much more attractive to me.

The Mee can hardly be beat at their price level. I love mine for on the go and sports. The ma750 are much more bassy and quite heavy im comparison.

Thank you all guys. I decided to go for ma750. I have one last question. There is an iOS version -
MA750i. I have an iPhone and I'm buying a FiiO X1. Is MA750i version going to be any different when used on FiiO X1?
