Adding to flu fighter comments, i find sor easier to drive, more technical, intimate sounding and better depth in staging. Isa sounds more open and a tat warmer. Isa is a more specialist iem like flu_flighter said where sor is more versatile especially with the tuning nozzle.
To me, the Elysium is pretty dark sounding iem. Personally i prefer SOR over elysium for the faster and more lively sound. If Elan is anything like SOR with BC driver, i will go with it anytime over Elysium. Just my 5¢ opinion.
The Elysium will work with electronic, but I wouldn't be my first recommendation for rock and metal. Its somewhat rolled-off treble, occasional congestion on busy tracks, and randomly recessed male vocals may or may not make certain songs sound off. But it's a very random thing: Meat Loaf sounds wrong while Bryan Adams sounds great; Poets of the Fall are sometimes bad while Billy Idol is good; Dissection sounds great, In Flames can get really congested, Samael gets thick and syrupy.
There are genres where it shines, jazz especially sounds insanely good on the Elysium. Female vocals are very intimate (Fuyumi Sakamoto's cover of Akina Nakamori's hit "Nanpasen" from the former's latest album gives me goose bumps and brings tears to my eyes, it's just so good on the Elysium).
It's not a bad IEM (despite my earliest impressions), but it takes quite a while to get used to and it offers a different, new way to enjoy music. It is definitely the most troublesome earphone in my collection. I've had it for two weeks and I'm still looking for the best chain synergies, filter combinations, and tips to make it work for me.

What filters are you using? "somewhat rolled-off treble, occasional congestion on busy tracks, and randomly recessed male vocals" is not how I hear them at all with the purple or red filters. Very good balance all around with those.

Red nozzle had too much bass for me in red-blue combination. I downgraded to pink-pink and was happier with it. I am currently on pink-red.
And yes, I experienced rolled-off treble even with the most revealing filter, which is blue, I believe. Though perhaps that was due to too much bass from the red nozzle. I will experiment more.
When I have the time, I will make a list of tracks on which my Elysium sounds off to my ears.
It's not really helpful. For example, it looked like the red filter might have more highs than the black filter, however, in reality, the red filter pushes the mids further back, while the black filter just slightly attenuates the treble emphasis while retaining the mids, compared to the blue filter. The high emphasis of the black was also more than red. This is on SOR.
Seeing as IMR is still waiting for components for the Avalon, it's probably going to be another situation like with the Semper, where it's going to be a lottery whether or not we get it before Christmas. Fingers crossed there's no more delays and customs clear it quickly.
So many questions yet to be answered though.
1. Is the final design as per the site pics or as per the original teaser pics with IMR Pro Audio on the metal cup thing (the yoke is the word i was searching for) and the bare looking metal colour or is there a choice in colour.
2. What connectors are used on the cable on the headphone side.
3. I do not own any 4.4mm amps but do own balanced amps, either XLR 4 or 2.5mm.
4. What do they weigh.
5. I have lost track of planar drivers but 75mm, nice, is that quite large still even today.
6. 130db, do they come with -15db ear plugs lol.
7. Are we plugging in or out of the matrix.
8. Pad swap anyone.
Obviously we're all going to be running in full attack mode, right, all the noises, right...

Been an amazing journey in terms of IMR releases this last couple of years
Just curious how many of ya'll have now settled with one or two as your 'end game' or have some that are in 'will never sell' box
For a loooong time Ive persoanlly been essentially looking for
1x 'At home TOTL sounding' IEM -
1x 'Audiophile on-the-go / travelling' IEM
+ A variety of different driver for different qualities of sound
...Which I feel very fortunate to have found with
1 - the Semper as my TOTL (with my current set up) - EST / DD / Planar
2 - The RED 2 as my on-the-go (with Plenue D2) - Dynamic / Piezo
3 - and the Splash of Gold for (the profound and unique qualities of...) - CNT-ADLC
Very much looking forward to the Headphone. I kind of think IF Bob pulls off a classic 'IMR tuned' HEADPHONE then it may be one of the most exciting new releases in the headphone world for many years ! o_0
PS: Very glad to find a CNT-ADLC IMR IEM in the shape of the SOG that seems to have the weight and low end depth and richness of the Aten driver...something I was concerned about
